Review for ‘‘Pain Chain’’

'PAIN CHAIN'' is the Japanese short thriller by Tomo Sugiura. Following the sexual assault of a young woman in the forest the film takes a dark path into marvelous revenge shenanigans. The actors are behind the script and give excellent performances that are left hanging by the poor but very atmospheric cinematography. Although the lighting provides some creative looks, the all around production design of camera equipment and color correction leave a lot to be desired. The locations are great and give a very realistic tone to this film. We would strictly suggest to director Tomo Sugiura and his crew to invest in expensive camera equipment that will do justice to the film. The editing is great and some sound design choices caught us by surprise.PAIN CHAIN is well written and has a very playful structure that keeps the audience on the edge of it's seat. We are very excited to see what's next in his filmography.
