Review for ‘‘Where I’m From’’ Sina Nazarian

''Where I'm From'' by Sina Nazarian is an experimental short film that showcases storytelling only using the narrative power of sound. The award winning Iranian-Canadian director makes risky choices that are organic and very practical as this film feels like such a fresh breath of stylized expression.

From a production design standpoint we are treated to a well crafted project with marvelous cinematography, intense editing and a beautiful sound design that earned this film an award on our January Edition. Sound designer Eli Haligua did not hesitate to use all of the hidden aces down his sleeve to create a captivating and moving result.

Only thing that subtracts from this experience is the loose and vague theory of a scenario that it's open to interpretation. Considering this is a surrealistic psychological film this is hardly a flaw but in some cases scenes tend to drag longer than intended.

Overall we want to congratulate the whole crew for its outstanding performance on ''Where I'm From'' as it is clear that it has been such a passion project that kept us on the edge of our seats.

We wish the best and await the next.
