Review for ‘‘Today’’ by Kostas Georgosopoulos

''TODAY'' by Kostas Georgosopoulos is a short slice of life experimental film from the very familiar scenery of Athens, Greece. The aesthetic and subject could be interpreted as a silent documentary of human observation. The cinematography reminds of the classic greek film ''Spirtokouto'' by Yannis Oikonomidis as we are treated with neglected frames that work artistically to show the tranquility of chaos. We found the selection of deafening silence very original. We are not given a lot of acting to work with and there is no clear dramatization. In some scenes the LED lights flicker creating a DIY aesthetic that would fit the experimental documentary aspect of this project. We would like to empower young director Kostas Georgosopoulos to maintain his stoic directing style but to infuse more dialogue, dramatization and risks. Our thoughts for ''Today'' can be summarised as a great art house thesis film that works. With a few technical improvements we would easily see it as a modern art museum installation.
